The Stone
Rose Quartz wears the softest colour in the mineral world — a translucent pink that ranges from the barest blush to a deep rosy flush, coloured by fine traces of titanium and iron threaded through the quartz. It rarely forms clean points; instead it comes in massive, cloudy chunks, gently milky, as though the light inside it were diffused through gauze. Tumbled smooth it feels tender in the palm, and even rough it seems to soften the space around it.
The stone has been associated with love for as long as there are records to consult. Egyptians and Romans alike carried it, and myth after myth ties its colour to the blood or tears of gods spilled for love. It is not a dramatic stone. It is a warm one.

Properties
Rose Quartz is the great stone of the heart — the classic bearer of unconditional love. But its most important teaching is often overlooked: the love it opens begins at home. Before it softens us toward others, it asks us to extend compassion inward, to meet our own wounds with tenderness rather than judgement. It gentles grief, dissolves resentment, and lowers the defences we mistake for strength, restoring trust in the possibility of connection.
In Practice
Kept by the bedside, Rose Quartz is said to invite gentler rest and warmer dreams; held over the heart in meditation, it draws attention to what has been guarded there. Many carry a tumbled piece simply to remember softness during a hard day. It cleanses easily in moonlight or running water, and pairs beautifully with Rhodonite for emotional healing.
