“The hand at the right, that opens the road and keeps the ledger honest.”
The Angel
Yeiayel closes in -el and is glossed “God's right hand” — the instrument of divine action in the world of exchange and enterprise. The right hand is the hand of blessing and of work; it is also the hand that signs the contract and counts the coin. Yeiayel therefore governs the whole traffic of the visible world: fame, fortune, commerce, travel by sea, and the reputation a person builds among strangers.
His virtue is a generous prosperity — abundance that circulates rather than hoards. The tradition names him the patron of merchants, navigators, and diplomats, of all who carry value across distances and depend on being trusted at the far end of the journey. He grants good repute, safe passage, and the practical wisdom to prosper without corruption. The older writers are careful on this last point: Yeiayel's fortune is bound to fair dealing, and the influence sours for the one who cheats. To invoke him is to ask that one's name travel well ahead of one, that ventures return more than they cost, and that the crossing — whether of an ocean or a career — be granted fair weather. He is the angel of the honest transaction, the reputation earned, the ship that comes home.
