Furfur

A liar until bound within the triangle — then a raiser of storms and a speaker of truth.

The Spirit

Furfur is the thirty-fourth spirit of the Ars Goetia, a Great Earl who appears in the form of a hart or winged stag with a fiery tail. He carries one of the more distinctive warnings in the whole catalogue: he will not speak truth unless he is compelled into the magical triangle, and left to his own devices he deceives the operator at every turn. Only when constrained does his nature turn, and he then answers honestly and takes on the shape of an angel, speaking with a hoarse voice.

His temperament is thus double-edged, a spirit of deceit and of revelation depending entirely on the discipline of the one who calls him. The tradition treats him as a spirit of the tempest, master of the thunder and the lightning.

Office

The Goetia says that Furfur, once bound, will willingly create love between a man and a woman, and stir up love between wedded couples. He raises thunder, lightning, blasts, and great tempestuous storms, and gives true answers concerning things secret and divine when he is commanded to do so from within the triangle.
