He raises houses and towers, and throws down the strongholds of the enemy.
The Spirit
Malphas is the thirty-ninth spirit of the Ars Goetia, a Great President who appears first in the form of a crow before the operator, and who takes the shape of a man when commanded, speaking then with a hoarse voice. He belongs to the architectural and martial spirits of the catalogue, a builder and a breaker of fortifications whose office mirrors and inverts that of his neighbour Halphas. Where one stocks the tower, the other raises and razes it.
The grimoires carry a pointed warning about Malphas: if the operator makes a sacrifice or offering to him, he will receive it kindly and willingly — but he will then deceive the one who made it. His nature is thus reliable in his stated office yet treacherous in the matter of gifts, a spirit to be commanded rather than courted.
Office
The Goetia says Malphas can build houses and high towers, and can bring to the operator's knowledge the thoughts, desires, and works of his enemies. He destroys the desires and strongholds of adversaries, gives good familiars, and can quickly bring artificers together from all places. He receives sacrifices willingly but deceives those who offer them.
