Asaliah

To love the truth is already to begin ascending toward it.

The Angel

Asaliah (עֲשָׂלִיָה) draws on a root suggesting to make, to point out, to render justice, sealed with the suffix -iah, the abbreviated Name Yah. The tradition names him "God who points out the truth" or "the Just God who indicates the way." He is the forty-seventh of the seventy-two rays extracted from Exodus 14:19–21, the point in the Name where justice becomes contemplation and contemplation becomes a road one can actually walk.

Asaliah's virtue is the contemplation of truth and divine justice. He governs the mind that rises from visible things to the invisible principles behind them, granting the capacity to perceive the order beneath appearances and to praise the intelligence that arranged it. His influence favours teachers, jurists, and mystics alike — anyone whose work is to discern what is genuinely just and to raise the mind toward higher realities. Under the twentieth to twenty-fifth degrees of Scorpio, where the sign's penetrating gaze turns philosophical, Asaliah offers the pleasure of insight without vanity: the truth loved for its own sake rather than for the power it confers. To call on him is to ask that one's judgement be aligned with reality, and that the ascent from fact to meaning proceed without the mind losing its footing.
