Mahasiah

“Peace is not the absence of the wound but the mending of it.”

The Angel

Mahasiah is read as God the Savior or the God who rescues, the -iah suffix affixing the act of deliverance to the Lord’s own Name. Occupying the fifth division of Aries, from twenty to twenty-five degrees, it governs rectification — the setting right of what has gone crooked, the restoration of concord between those who have quarrelled, and the pardon that dissolves resentment. Its province is the healing of relations rather than of bodies, though the two are seldom far apart.

The angel is said to grant ease in learning, a facility for the high sciences and for esoteric study, and a serene disposition that carries its bearer through life without needless conflict. To invoke Mahasiah is to seek peace with all the world and to correct the errors of one’s own conduct, for its correction begins at home before it reaches outward. Those under its patronage are amiable, cheerful, and drawn to noble subjects. Mahasiah answers the Goetic president Marbas, whose knowledge of hidden things and power to cure diseases is here transposed into the gentler register of reconciliation and the soul’s recovery of its own equilibrium.
