Poyel

He who sustains the universe can surely be trusted with one modest wish.

The Angel

Poyel (פּוֹיֵאֵל) sets a root suggesting support and sustaining beside the suffix -el, "God," and is glossed as "God who supports the universe" or "God who upholds all things." He is the fifty-sixth ray of the Shem ha-Mephorash, drawn from Exodus 14:19–21, and his temperament is famously gentle — the angel most often invoked for the quiet fulfilment of reasonable hopes.

Poyel's virtue is fortune, renown, and moderate desire fulfilled. He governs the favour that arrives without struggle, the good reputation earned by merit rather than ambition, and the philosophy of contentment that keeps success from souring into greed. The tradition describes those under his influence as modest, agreeable, and well liked, esteemed for their character as much as their attainments, and it holds that Poyel grants wishes precisely to the degree that they are humble and just. His gift is not the storming of fortune's gates but their quiet opening to one who has not demanded too much. Ruling the fifth to tenth degrees of Capricorn, where the sign's discipline can yield lasting achievement, Poyel rewards patient competence with recognition. To invoke him is to ask for enough — enough fortune, enough esteem, enough ease — and for the wisdom to recognise it when it comes.
