Aladiah

“Grace is the second chance that arrives before it is deserved.”

The Angel

Aladiah bears the meaning the Propitious God, or the favourable God, the -iah suffix sealing the quality of graciousness within the Lord’s own Name. In the fourth station of Taurus — fifteen to twenty degrees — it governs grace and healing, and above all the particular grace that absolves those who have erred and grants them a fresh beginning free of the stain of the past. Its mercy is not the overlooking of fault but the granting of clean slate.

The tradition credits Aladiah with the cure of contagious diseases and the restoration of health, and, in the moral order, with the healing of a reputation unjustly ruined. It disposes its favourites to hide their good works from the eyes of others, preferring quiet virtue to display, and it grants them a favour with the influential that opens doors long closed. Those under its patronage enjoy good health and a good name, and they are inclined to conceal their charity. Aladiah answers the Goetic president Buer, whose skill in natural philosophy and the healing of all distempers is here lifted from the merely physical into the register of divine grace, where healing and forgiveness are revealed as a single act.
